2013 Fall Season Announcement
The Enterprise String Quartet is proud to announce its Fall 2013 Season of free public concerts.
The season will feature seven distinct themed programs and take place in prominent Edmonton locations such as Edmonton City Hall and Winspear Centre.
It all kicks off Sept. 13 with a NOON concert at Edmonton City Hall in collaboration with Edmonton Opera. The theme of the concert is Old Vienna, and will feature waltz music by Johann Strauss Jr., danced by the Strauss Ball dancers, and more. This collaboration precedes Edmonton Opera’s February production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus.
The Enterprise Quartet will continue the Old Vienna program on Sept. 15 (2PM, Robertson-Wesley United Church) and Sept. 16 (7:30PM, Convocation Hall, U of Alberta), featuring Strauss Waltzes arranged by Schoenberg, and J. Brahms’ String Quartet No. 1.
September will also feature the first instalment of the Prussian Quartet programs, highlighting the “Prussian Quartets” of W. A. Mozart (his last three quartets) and J. Haydn (Op. 50). It begins on Sept. 22 (2PM, Whitemud Crossing Library), with repeat performances on Sept. 23 (12PM, Winspear Centre) and Sept. 25 (7:30PM, Edmonton City Hall).
Other season highlights include the Pure Romantic programs, featuring the string quartets of Mendelssohn and Schumann, and a special War Memorial concert on Remembrance Day featuring Canadian music inspired by war.
The Enterprise Quartet project is supported by the Edmonton Community Foundation, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, The City of Edmonton, Edmonton Public Library, and the Department of Music, University of Alberta.
